i’m in LA! i slept the first half of the flight and utilized the free wifi for the second. i landed around 2:30 p.m. yesterday, and my mom & i picked up the rental car my label got me. a nice, sensible, unassuming corolla for big mindi. i changed out of my airport clothes when i got to my big brother malik’s house and got dinner at my favorite restaurant——a place whose name i like to gatekeep——with my bestie alanah. the people that work there treat us like royalty. afterwards, we met up with our other sister, amberrr. alanah and i got tea, amber got red wine before she left for her night run. iconic. when i got back to malik’s i slept so good. i had a hair appointment at 9am today and when i woke up at 3:54, i thought it was p.m. instead of a.m. and that i missed the appointment completely because of jetlag. turns out, my body’s just still on NY time, and my brother’s blackout curtains cause confusion. lol. my hair’s done now, though, and now i’m in the cafe/restaurant downstairs from the stylist’s apartment—— drinking a dirty chai, eating a soyrizo burrito, and typing this. they’re playing vampire weekend. i’m dancing a bit now. i have a session with my friends henry and cam to kick off my sessions-in-LA-every-single-day trip. so sick. i also only have get to stay with malik for a few days; my label got me an airbnb for a week. soooo clutch and necessary. i’m not the biggest fan of my hair right now… i wanted pincurls like i get in bedstuy, but the curls i have now are way looser and my hair is a bit flatter than i prefer. oh well! i’m just glad it looks better than it did yesterday. i’ll figure out how to make it work, i’m sure. i can see that it started raining again outside, and i put my brain dead bandana hat in the car before i came into the cafe. maybe a little mist will give me the volume i desire. lol, anyways… i’m happy to be here. happy to feel autonomous; driving around & listening to music has been awesome. i forgot that i missed that.
